Greater Than Less Than Environmental Sculptures
Students were given two numbers and had to create towers for each number. We observed their towers discussing and comparing which one is bigger/greater than, which is smaller/less than. After working with greater than and less than students were given the task to create an Environmental Sculpture to represent a greater than and less than number sentence. They choose from a variety of environments such as a city, the artic, the jungle and desert as their background. After choosing their background they designed and built a sculpture that included a greater than and less than symbol.
